PA Announcements on Electronic Displays

Reinforce audio public address announcements.

Electronic displays are used in shopping malls, offices, concert halls, arenas and any other public place to communicate important information to people. They may convey general information about the building and where particular services are located, emergency messages in the case of a fire, courtesy announcements such as no-smoking, or safety messages telling people how to reach security personnel. These visual messages are often used to reinforce the audio messages played by the building’s public address system, so people hear and see the same message. Or visual displays could be used in situations when it is inappropriate to make an audio announcement, such as during a concert. Electronic displays are a great way to supplement audio announcements and communicate important information to a large number of people at the same time.

1. General Information:

Visually communicate general information such as where customer service and restrooms are located, hours of operation, the location of elevators, or where particular stores and departments are located.

2. Emergency Announcements:

When an emergency occurs, supplement audio public address announcements with visual messages. Communicate what type of emergency it is, what they need to do and what exits people should use.

3. Courtesy Announcements:

Provide visual courtesy announcements such as: “There is no-smoking in this building”, “Elevator number 2 is out of order please use another one”, or “Parking is available in the lot behind the building”.

4. Safety Messages:

Use electronic displays to show people where they can reach security personnel or where help points are located if they have questions or safety concerns.

5. Visually display audio messages:

Display messages on electronic signs that supplement the audio public address messages so people hear the announcements and also see them on the electronic signs. This also helps hearing-impaired individuals as they are able to see the message without having to hear the audio announcement.
